Bill Hughes is the founder of Hughes Strategic. Since 2018, Hughes Strategic has supported leaders and organizations—especially schools, districts, and networks—in accelerating student achievement, fiscal responsibility, board governance, community engagement, effective planning & policy, and targeted philanthropy. Dr. Hughes serves as a senior advisor and member of the Board of Directors for School Boards for Academic Excellence. He currently collaborates with schools and think tanks on a wide range of topics, including the educator pipeline, Capacity Road Map planning with a focus on student achievement and school success, leadership development, and board governance advising. Previously, Dr. Hughes served for sixteen years as Superintendent of the Greendale Schools, one of Wisconsin’s highest-performing districts and widely recognized for its financial efficiency. His past roles also include: Program Director, The Kern Family Foundation, focusing on K–12 and higher-education leadership development Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer, Seton Catholic Schools Managing Director of Leadership, Schools That Can Milwaukee, where he helped redesign a principal master’s degree in educational leadership paired with an MBA Active in education policy since 2005, Dr. Hughes has worked with the administrations of Governors Doyle, Walker, and Evers. He currently serves with governing and advisory boards across government, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropic foundations. Hughes is married with three children and five grandchildren.
