Jon Russell brings a diverse background in education, local government, and public policy. Currently serving as the Director of Network Engagement for the School Boards for Academic Excellence, Jon is dedicated to fostering reform, collaboration, and communication within public education. Prior to his current role, Jon served as the Chief of Staff for Spotsylvania County Public Schools and as a Senior Advisor for the Virginia Department of Education, where he honed his skills in strategic and internal communications, crisis management, and public policy development. Jon’s passion for public service is evident in his role as a Town Councilman for the Town of Culpeper, Virginia, where he has served since 2014. In addition, Jon has extensive experience in government affairs, having served as the Director of Local Government Affairs for the American Legislative Exchange Council. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness from Thomas Edison State University and a graduate of Sorenson Institute at University of Virginia’s Political Leaders Program. In his spare time, Jon enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, attending church at Wilderness Tabernacle of Culpeper, and participating in extracurricular activities such as coaching boxing and promoting rodeos.
