The Problem

One of the greatest impediments to education policy reform is unaligned legal counsel. Attorneys can play a critical role in facilitating good policy, but the great majority who specialize in education law are beholden to the education establishment.

Most school districts retain legal counsel that is highly risk averse or even ideologically opposed to the will of the school board. The only additional legal counsel typically available to school board members comes from state school board associations, which do not favor reform.

The Solution

SBAE works with reform minded attorneys and legal professionals across the country. If your school board has a legal question, and you are not getting the legal advice you need from your existing counsel, SBAE can connect you with a specialist to address your question directly. SBAE provides this service free of charge to school board members who are affiliated with our network of state partner organizations.
